Best Luxury Beauty Buys From 2014

Here's what we rated from this year.

Cathy Donohue

Every year, there are a huge number of products launched in the beauty industry.

While this is great news for make-up lovers and skincare hoarders, it can be a little difficult to choose which items are worth purchasing.

With that in mind, we decided to whittle it down, choosing our favourites from luxury names and budget favourites.

If you’re a sucker for pretty packaging and iconic brands, you might want to check out the below.

Lancôme Visionnaire Cx Advanced Skin Corrector, €72

French beauty house Lancôme has long been hailed as one of the go-to brands for maintaining good skincare. In recent years, they launched Genefique, a youth activator, and Dreamtone, aimed at brown spots and correcting uneven pigmentation. 2014 is the year for Visionnaire and this skin corrector is another product worth investing in. In addition to targeting wrinkles, it helps reduce large pores, disguises red marks and evens out skin tone.

MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set, €17.50

It’s all about brows this year, the bigger and bolder the better with many opting for a Cara Delevingne esque look. MAC are at the top of the beauty game for a reason and they seem to know what we want before we even know ourselves. Humidity resistant and smudge proof, anything that can keep us looking good in Ireland’s ever-changing climate is good news to us. Brows have a tendency to get unruly and out of place very quickly but a quick slick of this and a groomed look is yours.

Bottega Veneta Knot, €88.90 for 50ml

Delicious scents are made all the better when they come presented in a beautiful bottle. When looking through this year’s perfume launches, Knot stood out. Designed to mimic the clasp on Bottega Veneta’s Knot clutch bag, this gold bottle will make a gorgeous addition to your dressing table. Floral fans will appreciate the rose and peony notes but we also love the underlying richness of musk and tonka bean.

Clarins True Radiance Foundation, €31

Any product that promises to brighten and correct the complexion sounds like a winner to us and we think we have found our favourite foundation yet with True Radiance. Launched earlier this year, it includes that all-important SPF whilst also providing 24 hour hydration. If you’ve ever experienced dry flaking foundation after a few hours wear, you might want to try this out. It’s also fantastic if you prefer a glowing radiant finish rather than a matte look.

Ren Flash Rinse One Minute Facial, €37.95

There’s nothing quite like pampering yourself with a facial but it’s a luxury usually reserved for a special occasion. Not only is a weekly pamper very expensive, it’s difficult fit that into an already packed schedule. However, this wonder product from Ren will leave skin revitalised and re-energised after only one minute. It sounds too good to be true but the inclusion of Vitamin C and Glycogen Magnesium means radiant and glowing skin is yours without the hassle of getting to the salon.
