Body Beautiful – Three New Beauty Buys to Try This Week

We've been putting some new beauty releases to the test...

Rebecca McKnight

It’s a serious perk of the job here at Her.ie towers that we get to try and test some of the latest and greatest beauty releases and call it work. Lucky us. Here is a heads up on three products that got a communal thumbs up from the team in the week that was…

Almond & Milk Hand Cream, €11.95 from Burt’s Bees

This beauty buy has been sitting on our desk all week, and so delicious is the scent that we’ve opened it several times a day just to breathe it in. Super rich, this creamy formula contains sweet almond oil and vitamin E to moisturize dry skin, and of course the trademark of Burt’s Bees products; beeswax. This helps to seal the treatment and shield your poor hands from the elements. This is just one of a collection of hand care products from Burt’s Bees so if the scent is not to your taste you have several other options, but this sweet cream gets a (well-moisturised) two thumbs up from us.

Glossybox, £10 (+P&P) from Glossybox.co.uk

Please don’t shout at me for admitting… but I purchased my first Christmas present for 2013 this week. And I might be purchasing a second soon, as Team Her.ie are convinced that our friends and sisters would fall in love with Glossybox. Launched in Ireland in 2011, Glossybox is already a hit with Irish customers, and now a familiar Irish face has taken over as the CEO for Ireland and the UK. Rachel Kavanagh, who previously launched her own tanning brand, Rockstar Tan, and once starred in Fair City, has taken a seat at the helm of operations, with great plans for the company. For those unfamiliar with the concept, Glossybox subscriptions cost £10 per month (+P&P). Choose from a three, six, or twelve month subscription, (euro rate is calculated at time of order), and each month a collection of five surprise deluxe beauty miniatures will wing their way to you. It’s a wonderful way to try some luxury items without committing to a full-size purchase, and equally to discover products you never knew you needed. Find out more here.

Colour Fixation Restorative Hair Mask, €10.99 from Surya Brasil

The Surya Brasil range is Her.ie’s latest weapon in the quest for a gorgeous crowning glory. The high-impact line is vegan certified and gluten free, and this particular mask has been developed with 15 different Amazonian herbs, nuts and fruits, set to nourish and nurture mistreated locks. The mask promises to dramatically improve the moisture, suppleness and shine of coloured hair. This process is aided by the inclusion of rice protein, which works as a reconstructor, strengthening the cuticle and preserving the natural moisture in the strand. After washing the hair, apply the restorative mask, strand by strand, from roots to ends, and massage softly. Let it act on the hair for 15 minutes, ideally wrapped in a warm towel. Then rinse well and behold the magic. We’re love the ‘back to basics’ approach, using the best of what nature has to offer, and we’re currently opting for this mask once a week to treat our tresses.
