The expert colourist decided to paint darker colours on lower layers of hair, i.e, the type of colour and light placement "that occurs naturally". This is namely why the finished product comes across as so soft, natural and perfectly put together even if Hannah started off by selecting "random" colours. In addition to colour melting, Hannah also used balayage for two reasons: one so that the technique would help blend the lighter hues blend in with the client's natural hair and two so that it would be kept low-maintenance. Yay, no roots! You can check out the full 'Chocolate Mauve' process on Hannah's Instagram account, Hannah the Painter, here.
