The surprising eye makeup look that’s big news for summer 2016

Throwback!

Would you try it?

So we know that natural big brows are in but when it comes to eye makeup, there’s a rather surprising trend getting a lot of love.

If you’re an 80s kid, you’ll probably know that blue eyeliner and bright shades were huge for that decade and this look is en vogue again for summer 2016.

The trend isn’t exactly office appropriate but with Indiependence and Electric Picnic around the corner, there are multiple opportunities to work every shade of blue.

Check these perfect eyeliner flicks.

To get some advice on how to nail this trend, I decided to ask the professionals.

First off, Laura Pye, a Lancome Elite Make Up Artist has a very simple way to get on board with this look.

She recommends using a blue eyeliner, for example, Grandiose Liner in Sapphire as it’s ultra pigmented and dries to a matte finish.

Laura says it’s “perfect for adding a pop of colour to your summer look” and you can apply it above the lashline or at the corners of your eyes.

I also spoke to Fred Letailleur, who just so happens to be one of the big wigs at YSL.

Here’s what he had to say about the look, pinpointing it to a very specific shade of blue.

“The summer colour this season is cobalt blue, used either on the lashes using a bright mascara over a natural eye or as a block eyeshadow using couture mono eyeshadow N 8 over a black eye pencil blended into the socket”.
