There was an awkward moment for Downton Abbey TV executives last week when a snap from the new promotional work was released, including a very modern water bottle on the mantle piece.
Despite turning the moment around with a
pretty cool cast response, it has been reported that producers at the ITV period drama have banned any modern objects being brought onto the filming set.
A source told
The Daily Telegraph:
"Modern watches and jewellery are out and so even is designer underwear, as the danger is apparently too great if, say a chap bent over.
"They have relented in the case of prescription glasses and asthma guns, but that's about it."
Reacting to the embarrassment of original photo leak and the cast’s quick witted photo opportunity to support charity WaterAid , creator Julian Fellowes said:
"I liked the cast's response, though, didn't you?"
"It was a silly mistake, of course, and I suppose someone will be blown up for it, but if the cast can turn it around and actually help to raise some money for such a terrific cause, then I'm glad it happened. Victory snatched from the jaws of defeat."
