The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed their first child together and it’s a boy! The boy was born at 4.24pm today and weighs 8lbs 6ozs.

News reports have confirmed that the couple are now proud parents to a baby boy but have not yet confirmed a baby name.

According to reports Kate was admitted to the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London early this morning. Prince William travelled with her by car from Kensington Palace and was present for the birth of the baby.

The couple announced they were expecting late last year.

The little one, who will officially be addressed as the Prince of Cambridge is the first child for Kate and Wills who tied the knot back in 2011.

For the last week the world has been waiting on tenterhooks for word on the new arrival which was said to be due last weekend.
