This week a number of fans noticed an unusual addition to Downton Abbey, and it had nothing to do with the characters.

In a promotional shot released ahead of season five, a portrait shot of Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville) and Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) had a rather unusual prop – a water bottle.

The historical inaccuracy was immediately noted by fans, who had some fun online making memes and genuinely pointing out an embarrassing day for the props team.

Until the entire cast got involved for the best response ever…
