PIC: Liam Payne Faces Fan Backlash Over Latest Instagram Snap

Liam Payne has caused outrage amongst young fans, after he posted a snap of himself smoking to his Instagram account. The 22-year old posted a black and white captionless shot to his Instagram account, where he is seen posing with a cigarette in hand. The shot, which was uploaded just hours after Payne performed in Montreal, caused outrage amongst fans who voiced their disappointment in the boy band member.

Fans of the singer slammed his move, pointing out the negative effects of smoking and the image he’s broadcasting to younger fans. Comments on the post included: "Please stop smoking Liam. We all care about you... I'm so disappointed," “Stop smoking! You know better,” while another added: "It's not cute, it's not hot, it's scary and dangerous." Other fans jumped to the star's defense, claiming he was now 22-years old and shouldn't need permission to smoke. Liam didn’t seem fazed by the backlash though, refusing to comment on the controversy.
