Television presenter and model, Melanie Sykes, is making headlines today after it was reported she spent the night in custody following a row with her husband.
According to the
Mirror the 43-year-old was arrested and cautioned by police after a row “escalated” between her and her 27-year-old husband, Jack Cockings.
The incident which took place at the T.V. personality’s home in North London on Tuesday evening, resulted in Sykes spending the night in custody.
Today a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 9.45pm last night to a residential address in Hampstead following reports of an assault.
"A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault and taken to a North London police station.
"She has since been given a caution for common assault. The victim, a man, did not require hospital treatment."
The couple met online last year after exchanging a string of flirty tweets and wed in May.
In a recent interview with
Hello magazine Sykes admitted that she wished her relationship with Jack was not initiated in such a public forum.
"We were just being silly and having a joke, but the way it was put across made it more difficult to handle,” she told the magazine.
"I had to ride the wave for a couple of weeks and went away with my boys... I did talk a little bit about the situation to my older son. I told him I'd made a mistake and that I'd said some things other people felt I shouldn't have done."
