Tom Hanks’ son Chester has revealed that he has been battling substance addiction for the last eight years.
The 24-year-old, who is also known as rapper Chet Haze, has stated that he has now been sober for nearly 60 days, but has been battling substance abuse since he was 16 years old and that he has undergone treatment for cocaine addiction.
“I’ve been struggling with substance abuse since I was 16 years old,” he told fans in a video on his Instagram page. “Finally, at the age of 24, I decided to get some help. With 50 days of sobriety under my belt, I can honestly say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”
He also thanked his family for their support; “I’m thankful for my family and everybody that cares about me, including my fans,” he wrote. “I’ve been blessed with the programs of AA and NA which allow me to rise above this disease. I’m learning to accept my faults and be ok with being human. If anybody that see this struggles with addiction, feel free to reach out. Thank you all for the love and support. God is real.”
Chet also thanked fans for their support on his Twitter page.
Thanks for the support everybody. I’m coming up on 60 days clean/sober and I can honestly say I’ve never felt better.
