2. Julie Andrews
So we’ve already mentioned her but Julie Andrews is reason enough considering that she is a cinematic legend. The actress will be honoured with a Volta, an award created to celebrate individuals who have made significant contribution to film. She will also be closing the festival with one of her greatest films The Sound of Music (we’ll definitely be singing along).
3. 38 countries
As well as showcasing homegrown talent, with films such as Glassland and Dare to be Wild, the festival brings audiences the best in international cinema with movies from Canada, Korea, Brazil and Germany. There is also a vast rage of genres and narratives which means all film fans will find something to watch.

4. Incredible films
We have to say that we are REALLY looking forward to seeing Kenneth Branagh’s fairytale masterpiece Cinderella and Glassland starring Jack Reynor and Toni Colette. There will also be documentaries, including The Last Man On The Moon and The Decent One, and classic films, including In Cold Blood and Muriel’s Wedding, screened during the 11 days.

5. Audience interaction
The lovely thing about this particular film festival is that it encourages interaction between the audience, guests and films. It also runs a Picture House outreach programme which brings a variety of films to hospitals and care homes around the city.
