Dermot has been the host for eight years now.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show, he explained: “It was taken out of context – of course I’d love to do it! We normally sit down in February and start talking about it.
“If they turn around to me next month and say, ‘We want a fresh face’, then I’d say that I’ve had eight great years and I’ll go and do something else.”
The 41-year-old, who has fronted the competition since 2007, added that Simon Cowell is a good person to work for.
He revealed: “He always lets me get on with my job, which is the biggest compliment he can give me… He’s a good boss, he’s a fair boss.”
But that’s enough about Simon, we’re just happy to hear that Dermot is still keen to do the show. In fact, we’re probably as happy as he is here…
