We got to visit the site today.

EP is shaping up nicely.

Just days away from the launch of Electric Picnic 2016 we got to visit the site and explore some of the new features at this year’s festival. 55,000 people will descend onto Stradbally Hall for the biggest festival the country has to offer, an increase from 51,000 last year.

Added to the line-up this year is a new hidden ancient forest, The Hazel Wood, which will be home to an interactive theatre space in the woods with a programme of visual displays, live performances and interactive theatre.

Cathy Davey will also perform here at the weekend and the festival is encouraging people to come enjoy the entertainment and refreshments in the enchanting woodland setting.

Just down the winding forest road from Hazel Wood is the UFO which the festival promises will be an experience that’s never been seen before.

Above the trees is a UFO which will be home to a DJ who will play dance beats and visual effects throughout the weekend. This feature will really come to life when the sun goes down.

Another area which is new to Electric Picnic is Anachronica.

While the rave in the woods has always been there this new installation is like nothing you will have seen before. They have three massive walls with cogs moving and smoking billowing. The DJ will take residency in the middle section and provide the best after hours party for festival goers.

We also got to see some of the stages at the festival which are currently under construction.

The Heineken Sound Atlas is taking shape and promises to give you the taste and experience of Amsterdam with Dutch music and games being played through the weekend. They also invite you to try and find their secret room somewhere in the area which promises to be very exciting.

Casa Bacardi and some of the other stages were coming along nicely and look like they will be brilliant throughout the weekend. Bacardi cocktails and epic music – what’s not to like.

Finally for our tour today, we were invited to the main stage to sample the musical wizards that are Booka Brass band, giving us a taster of some of the musical talent which will be in store for everyone heading along this weekend.

In just a few days the headliners LCD Soundsystem, Lana Del Rey and The Chemical Brothers will play to the sold out crowd on this stage.
