There was sad news on Monday evening of this week as it was announced that legendary Coronation Street actress Anne Kirkbride had passed away following a short illness. The actress, who played Deirdre Barlow on the long-running soap, joined the cobbles back in the 1970s. She had been given extended leave since last October.
