Luke Kelly, the founding member of famous Irish traditional group, The Dubliner’s, has become one of the country’s biggest musical legends.

A musical icon, he remains the greatest balladeer Ireland has ever produced. He left behind a massive legacy and one of his most stand out moments occurred on this day forty years ago.

Kelly performed a rendition of Phil Coulter’s powerful ballad ‘Scorn Not His Simplicity’ on The McCann Man back in 1974, a performance that has withstood the test of time.
