Coronation Street bosses have revealed what their New Year “tragedy” is going to be… a mini-bus crash. According to reports, a number of Underworld employees will be travelling in the bus with driver Steve McDonald (played by Simon Gregson) when things go horribly wrong. The show released a statement this week. It read: “Exact details are being kept under wraps, but more than one character will be hospitalised as a result of the crash and one Underworld knicker stitcher’s life will be on the line.” Producer Stuart Blackburn had previously hinted that there was going to be a major incident in the New Year. He told Digital Spy: “Coming up in the New Year, there is a real tragedy that’s going to affect a dozen or so of our characters… It’s going to be spectacular and a little bit heartbreaking!” Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) will be involved in the mini-bus crash.
