What can top Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen? A female version of the movie of course.
It's just been revealed today that an all-female spin-off of the
Ocean's Eleven trilogy will be made and has the director from the previous movies acting as producer.
The new movie,
Ocean's Eight, will be directed by Gary Ross, and according to
Deadline already has some of the biggest female actors signed up. Included in the line-up are Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett, and Warner Brothers are said to be close to securing deals with Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina.
Seeing as it's called
Ocean's Eight it leaves it open for another trilogy with
Ocean's Ninth and
Tenth a possibility down the line but probably judging on the success of the first movie.
They're still in the casting stage and it's speculated that some of the original cast will make an appearance in the form of a cameo.
The
Ocean's reboot in the 00s took inspiration from the 1960s classic of the same name and starred George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt as they tried to pull off one of the biggest heists on a Las Vegas casino.
I would imagine people will be sceptical of an all-female version but with that line-up who can complain.
