Irish film is seriously underrated.
Following the Oscars hype about Irish film Brooklyn this year, it’s about time our emerald isle finally gets recognition for the work we produce.
Last week, an Irish woman was named the most beautiful in the world and this week, it’s two Irish films that are hitting the headlines for all the right reasons.
TIME seem to have a fixation with our nation’s produce at the moment, with Carlow native Saoirse Ronan currently fronting the US magazine.

Continuing their love affair with all things Irish, TIME included two films – Sing Street and The Lobster in the top ten movies to see in 2016, both of which are sure to get a serious boost from earning their position on their list.
Sing Street, a musical tale of adolescence set in 1980s in Dublin features a stellar cast of Irish actors including Aiden Gillen, Jack Reynor and Maria Doyle Kennedy.
Directed by John Carney, the film boasts an incredible soundtrack that pays homage to 80s band such as Duran Duran and The Cure and currently has a score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Lobster features our very own Colin Farrell in a dark, sci-fi comedy by Yorgos Lanthimos.
Following the win of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015, the black comedy scores a more than healthy rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The other 8 films that compile the list include Zootopia, The Witch, Krisha, Midnight Special, Born to Be Blue, Everybody Wants Some, The Jungle Book and The Nice Guys.
