Grapefruit makes the liver burn up fat and is a great aid for those of us who want to shed a few pounds. Research shows that consuming half of a grapefruit before meals was associated with significant weight loss. The study also showed that the properties found in grapefruit had a beneficial effect on blood sugar and insulin levels in the body. It is the season of flus and colds, and grapefruit is known for its high levels in Vitamin C and ability to give the old immune system a much needed boost.
