Study Proves One in Four Men Suffer From A ‘Man Period’

We’ve heard of ‘man flu’ and now we have ‘man periods’ – with a quarter of men claiming symptoms of man-struating once a month. A new study by vouchercloud.co.uk claims that one in four men have reported suffering from the same struggles us ladies face when that time of the month comes rolling around. Amongst the symptoms these man-struaters complain of "tiredness, cramps and increased sensitivity" – similar to a woman’s experience on the run-up to her monthlies. Not only do the one in four tend to feel the same pain, it seems their cravings for sugar, sweets and savoury food reach a new peak – with the average ‘man period’ causing the afflicted to spend an average of £81.53 more on comfort food per month. According to The Telegraph, the ‘man period’ was formally known as ‘irritable male syndrome’, with an entire book dedicated to its cause. Author Jed Diamond claims "men have a number of hormonal cycles and these affect their level of energy, anger, sex drive and irritability", yet medical professionals remain unconvinced of the symptoms.
