A heart-breaking week for the family.
Just two days after Celine Dion’s husband, René, passed away after a long battle with cancer, her brother has now also lost his fight against the disease.
Celine’s publicist confirmed the death of Daniel Dion after it emerged only yesterday that he was seriously ill.
Daniel Dion has passed away aged 59 Her sister Claudette told the Le Journal de Montreal: “He was ready and he no longer suffers. It was serene.”
Earlier this week, Celine cancelled some upcoming performances due to the death of her husband and manager René Angélil.
Rene passed away earlier this week aged 73. A statement posted on her website read:
“With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you that Celine performances Saturday, January 16th and Sunday, January 17th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace have been cancelled.
“All of us at AEG and at Caesars Palace have Celine and her children in our thoughts and prayers.”
The pair were married in 2004 and have three children together.
