Customers of online marketplace eBay are being urged to change their passwords, as sensitive information may have been compromised during a recent hacking attempt.
It is understood that hackers were able to steal what eBay claims is a 'small number' of its employee login details, allowing them to infiltrate its corporate network and access customer names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth.
The cyber attack was made between late February and early March and while eBay has said that there is no evidence of unauthorised activity, security experts are warning that the details could still be used to commit identity fraud.
