Dublin Bus have said that they are investigating CCTV footage after a shocking image was posted online which was captured on board the 39a route from UCD Belfield to Ongar yesterday.
The image, which
we posted earlier today, sparked an outcry of anger and debate amongst people on social media.
The photograph shows a disturbing scene of what appears to be a blood-spattered wall and empty medicine dispensers lying on the floor underneath the seat.
According to the
Journal.ie Dublin Bus have responded to the incident and assured that all protocols and informed Operations Control were carried out.
In a statement, Dublin Bus explained that the appropriate action had been taken by the driver after it was brought to his attention by passengers, and the vehicle was immediately brought into the garage and "thoroughly cleaned as per the strict guidelines."
The spokesperson also informed the website that no needles were located with the dispensers and that an investigation about the matter was underway.
“Dublin Bus has downloaded the CCTV footage from the vehicle and is investigating the matter,” the statement concluded.
The image evoked a massive reaction and many suggested that the image was in fact a fake.
