It's believed that an email sent to a Facebook user, spotted on Tech Crunch, said that unless Moments is downloaded or the photos are downloaded to a computer by the user, they will be deleted.
This only applied to the photos automatically synced not the ones you have personally uploaded but it's important to be aware of the change all the same.
With this Facebook user, it happened without her even realising.
