A status red weather warning is in place as Storm Desmond continues to wreak havoc across the country, causing major travel disruption and leaving more than 1800 homes without power. The rare warning is the highest and most severe on the Met Eireann warning scale, and sees many flights and ferrys cancelled as strong winds continue to batter the country. Flooding is reported in parts of Galway, Mayo, Kerry and Donegal and continuous heavy rainfall is likely to cause more flooding issues in the West and North West. All major airports in the country have been affected, with passengers advised to check their airline's websites for flight updates.
