According to the lead researcher on the project, Professor Justin Kruger, us tardy people are actually falling victim to a little maths conundrum.
The study believes those who are constantly late tend to grossly underestimate how long it will take them to do common tasks. Latecomers just aren't great at working out their timings...
So how can you help improve your (or your friend's) punctuality?
Drop the multitasking...
If you’re not a time person, multitasking is taking away from focus from a main objective - getting to your destination on time! Decide on one task and carry this through. Due to differing personalities, some people are more capable of the balancing act than others, meaning people who struggle with time are more likely to be late!
Imagine what time you’re EXPECTED to arrive
A top tip to help improve your punctuality? Aim to judge how long your friend expects you to take to get ready and start preparing to leave with that timeframe in mind.
Make your time manageable
Struggle to keep a track of everything you need to do? Break down your tasks into chunks and work out how long each part will take you to do. Then work backwards for a time you need to start preparing to get ready to be at your destination on time.
