Today marks the beginning of Mental Health Week and we have one video put together by two Irish women that everyone needs to see... You may remember the remarkable project we highlighted last month that was set up by Mental Health campaigner Aoife Price and freelance media maker Cassie Delaney called ‘Love, From Future You’, a fairly unique approach to getting the mental health conversation started. The incredible initiative was simple, it is a collaborative project between absolute strangers, that has the potential to help everyone. Individuals were asked to pen a letter of advice you wished you had received in times of mental health struggles, all letters would remain anonymous and will then be interlaced to create one collaborative letter of support. That beautiful result is finally here and we caught up with Cassie to chat about the entire process. "The response online has been really incredible," the Knocklyon woman admitted. "What we set out to achieve was to give people something that they could share easily and say 'part of me is in this'. Organisations have shared it but seeing the response from individuals has really been the most encouraging part so far. We follow it very closely and have seen conversations popping up where people are opening up about advice and really being inspired by the piece". The future is bright for the 24-year-old and her friend Price, as they embark on making more videos that tackle specific issues and bring their incredibly original idea to 196 countries. "The plan for the future is to make more videos based on specific issues. Certain themes arose in many videos so we'd like to make some like "Advice from your future self on your first day of school" or "Advice from future you after your first heart break". Some were even more poignant, I was surprised at the amount of responses we received from people who had suffered from eating disorders and from women who were in abusive relationships. We'd like to take each of these issues individually and explore it further. "We're going to be filming at the One Young World Summit which will be incredible as it will have 196 countries. For that video we'll do something more visual and hopefully in a few languages to illustrate how global the issue is".
