In our brand new series, our resident sports fanatic Mary takes on some of Ireland’s top female athletes to see if she has what it takes to compete with the best.
From chatting about their rigorous training programmes to taking us on to the pitch and right into the middle of the action, some of Ireland’s biggest names show Her.ie how it’s done.
Last week, we went head-to-head with the Irish Women's Basketball Select team, while this week we faced off to Irish golfing star Olivia Mehaffey.

Mary says: As bad as I was at hockey, I was really dreading golf. Any time I’d tried my hand at pitch and putt or even Crazy Golf, I’d failed to hit the ball, so to be standing in the stunning grounds of Grange Golf Club in Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin was a bit overwhelming to say the least. On the day, we linked up with Irish golfing star Olivia Mehaffey and Irish coach David Kearney to show us all the tricks of the trade. Despite worrying about what to wear on the course, we needn’t have stressed as the friendly crew at Grange Golf Club told us to rock up in what we felt comfortable in and even though I made a bit of a show of myself, I enjoyed every minute! Thanks to David and Olivia for their (much-needed) patience! https://youtu.be/fdwTa0-60Tc
