One Irish Man Is On A Serious Mission To Bring Waffles To Australia

There’s some things that are staple signs of home. Tayto. Barry’s tea (or Lyons if you’re so inclined). Kerrygold butter. Even chicken fillet rolls. Thousands upon thousands of Irish people abroad stock up on these key homely ingredients to take back with them when they’re away and it’s rare a day some vacuum-packed sausages and rashers aren’t sneaked through in suitcases headed for far-flung destinations such as Dubai and Vancouver. But for one Irish man living in Australia, all of these pale into comparison when it comes to Birds Eye waffles. For him, there’s only one thing that could really bring Ireland to the land Down Under and with that in mind, he’s set up a petition asking Birds Eye to bring their lovely golden waffles to the land of Oz. “Basically, like every other Irish person who leaves Ireland, I started to miss all the usual things such as Tayto and that,” Brian Nooney from Mullingar, Co. Westmeath explained to us. “I love my waffles, mainly because when you want something for your dinner and you’re not arsed making something, they’re there. “But you can’t get them out here. You can easily get Taytos and other Irish products in most supermarkets, but no waffles." “I did email Birds Eye and they said they had no plans to bring them to Australia, but that they would pass it on to their marketing department.
