It is for this reason that a Dublin pub has started a fairly controversial new drinks promotion.
Liz Delaney's decided to kickstart the New Year with 'Welfare Wednesday' where a select few beers and spirits are on offer at €3.
People can avail of the promotion as long as you present bar staff with your social welfare card or bus pass.
