It’s pretty difficult to imagine chart topping band U2 as anything other than successful.
However, back in 1979, things were very different when the band received the below letter from record label RSO.
Addressed to Mr. P Hewson, otherwise known as Bono, the letter sent from Alexander Sinclair said that the band’s demo wasn’t suitable.
RSO folded in 1983 but U2 went on to make a name for themselves as one of the world’s most prolific rock bands.
They signed to Island Records in 1980 and released debut album Boy in October of that year, and the rest is history.
