SSE Airtricity, with Her.ie, JOE.ie and the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon has launched Team Dublin Marathon.
This involves a team of five women with Her and five men for JOE, who will run the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon this October.
The team is a mix of runners from all across Ireland varying in age and sporting experience.
Between now and race day in October each team member will get their own individualised training programmes and weekly training schedules from two of the best marathon runners in the country.
Gary Crossan, four times men’s Irish national Marathon champion, and Maria McCambridge, 2004 Olympian and 2013 Irish national marathon champion, will mentor and coach each individual for 19 weeks through the four SSE Airtricity Dublin Race Series ahead of the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon in October.
Meet the team...
1. Jan Carroll

Jan is a Dubliner living in Meath. This will be Jan’s first Marathon, having only taken up running less than a year ago. She completed her first Half Marathon in March of this year.
Favourite Inspirational quote: "The body achieves what the mind believes."
2. Aoife Fennell

The first of two Aoife’s on the team is from Co. Clare and started running three years ago. As she says herself this has quickly turned into an addiction. Since then she has joined an athletics club and a triathlon club too! She has completed a number of triathlons and ran the Dublin Marathon in 2013. Though she is only recently back training having given birth to her fourth child in January of this year.
Favourite inspirational quote: "There are no shortcuts to any place worth doing."
3. Roisin Hennessy

Roisin is from Co. Carlow and has previously run two Marathons. She was training for her third Marathon in 2013 but had to stop when she found out she was pregnant with second child. Her husband is a farmer and with two children she has a treadmill in the living room so she doesn’t miss a training session!
Favourite inspirational quote: “Sometimes people around you won’t understand your journey. They don’t need to, it’s not for them”.
4. Aoife Kennedy

Our second Aoife on the team is from Maynooth, Co. Kildare. This will be Aoife’s first Marathon, though she has run a number of 10k races. Aoife gave birth to her third child eleven months ago, but says the Marathon is now her new baby!
Favourite inspirational quote: "If at first you don't succeed try and try again. Though perhaps this will not apply to marathons!"
5. Marian Murphy

Marian is a Mayo woman who is living in Dublin and is the youngest female on the Team. Marian has been running for the last number of years, competing in both 5k and 10K races. She ran a Half Marathon in Limerick this year in a time of 1:46, though this will be her first Marathon.
Favourite inspirational quote: "It doesn’t get easier, you just get better!"
