Brazil

Japan

For a proper culture shock, take a trip to Tokyo or Kyoto. Japan is home to amazing food, efficient public transport and some genuinely unique traditions, from sumo-wrestling to stunning temples.

One of the lesser-spotted gems of Central America, Nicaragua is a paradise of nature with volcanoes, beaches and forests. If you really want a taste of life in the region, leave the mainland for a trip to Corn Islands and enjoy some water sports.

This Greek island is a favourite with celebrities and is known as the ‘Ibiza of Greece’ thanks to its vibrant nightlife. The landscape is dotted with the island’s trademark windmills, alongside other architectural gems.

This Romanian beauty spot is like going back in time, with wooden houses and old-school methods of industry. National Geographic commends the region’s “meandering rivers and haystack-dotted fields”.

Oklahoma City
