Talk about a novel idea. The pub behind the amazing Love/Hate promotion late last year has come up with another marketing ploy sure to send the droves into their bar in minutes. Never one to miss out on the art of conversation, Gary Kilcar from Whiskey’s pub in Loughrea, Galway wants you to dump your phone for half an hour. After witnessing a group of girls in the bar spend more time on their phones than talking to each other last Saturday, Gary has come up with the winning solution. The landlord is proposing that from 8pm on Saturday night, his punters might actually want to talk to one another. Gary will approach groups of friends this Saturday night and offer to supply them with a complimentary drink once they agree to put their phones into a money deposit box and leave them there without access for 30 minutes. The suggestion seems to be going down a storm with local customers, who are fully behind the idea (and a free pint) on the Whiskey’s Facebook page.
