Just a few weeks ago RTÉ issued an apology on the Saturday Night Show after Rory O’Neill, the owner of Panti Bar and gay rights activist, suggested that certain public figures were homophobic.
Following the show, RTÉ received a number of complaints for the apology being issued.
On Saturday, a number of people protested in the streets of Dublin over the apology, "censorship" and subsequent pay-out to the related parties from RTE.
The debate on the Saturday Night Show and the subsequent protests began with Rory O'Neill who took to the stage in the Abbey Theatre over the weekend to voice his concern about oppression in our society.
This post-show oration is really quite powerful.
