Young Boy Does His Homework Using Light From McDonald’s Window

The below image shows Daniel Cabrera doing his homework sitting on the street, using the lights from a McDonald's to help him see his schoolbooks. The moving image, which was originally posted to Facebook by Joyce Torrefranca, has since gone viral and inspired countless people. Daniel's story is very sad: his father died after their family home burnt down and now Daniel and his mother are living on the streets in Manila.

Speaking to Rappler about the photo, Joyce said: ‘As a student, it gave me an inspiration to work harder. "I’m fortunate my parents were able to send me to school. I seldom go to coffee shops to study, but this kid just hit me". "You really don’t need much, you just have to be determined and focused on the things that you want to achieve".
