What’s On: Your Guide to the Cinema This Week

So you're saving money for your Christmas shopping but you still want to go out this weekend, so why not head to the cinema?

Seven Psychopaths (16)

Martin (Colin Farrell) is a screenwriter whose best friend, Billy (Sam Rockwell), runs a dog-kidnapping scheme with Hans (Christopher Walken). Charlie (Woody Harrelson) is a gangster whose dog gets taken and you don’t need to be a genius to tell that these slightly-unhinged characters are eventually going to meet.


Nativity 2 (G)

David Tennant plays a teacher in this festive flick about a classroom assistant who smuggles a bunch of kids to a singing competition in the hope of bagging the £10,000 prize.


Alex Cross (15A)

The prequel to Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider sees Dr Cross assigned the case of a serial killer who is targeting members of a huge multinational corporation. Matthew Fox stars.


End of Watch (16)

Brian (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Mike (Michael Pena) are friends and partners policing one of LA’s toughest districts. The film is told from two perspectives, the cops and a Mexican gang, but it’s not long until their paths cross.

Great Expectations (12A)

Jeremy Irvine and Helena Bonham Carter lead a stellar in this big screen adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel about an orphan who suddenly finds himself rich.

Silver Linings Playbook (15A)

In this touching tale a man (Bradley Cooper) who is diagnosed with bi-polar disorder meets a woman (Jennifer Lawrence) who has lost her husband but can they help each other find happiness?


Rise of the Guardians (G)

The Boogeyman wants to steal the power of the Guardians (Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Sandman and the Tooth Fairy) to fill the world with fear. They call on Jack Frost to help them in their fight against evil.


Argo (15A)

Ben Affleck stars in and directs this dramatization of an operation to get six American diplomats out of revolutionary Iran.

Madagascar 3 (G)

The gang are back and trying to find their way home to New York but they have to join a circus to do so. Voiced by David Schwimmer, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Skyfall (12A)

James Bond (Daniel Craig) faces the unhinged Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem) in this latest instalment of the franchise but can he save MI6? More importantly, can he save M (Dame Judi Dench)?

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (12A)

It’s the final part of the vampire series and sees Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart), along with other vampire clans and the werewolves, trying to protect their daughter Renesmee.
