‘Lord Of The Rings’ Cinematographer Andrew Lesnie Has Died At The Age of 59

He won an Oscar and BAFTA for his work.

The filmmaker behind hit movie The Lord of the Rings Andrew Lesnie has died at the age of 59.

The Oscar and BAFTA winner is said to have suffered a heart attack.

Mr. Lesnie was recognized for his work on The Lord of The Rings and Hobbit films, Rise of The Planet of The Apes, Babe and King Kong and had also recently worked alongside Russell Crowe on hit film The Water Diviner.

He scooped an Oscar for his work in 2001 for his stunning portrayal of Middle Earth in The Fellowship of the Ring.

Tributes poured in on social media from other actors and members of the film industry.

Russell Crowe took to Twitter to express his sadness at the loss of his good friend writing: “Devastating news from home. The master of light, genius Andrew Lesnie has passed on.”
