An Irish woman has reportedly died in a hotel at a ski resort in Austria.

The 31-year-old woman from Mayo was found dead shortly before 10am yesterday morning, The Irish Sun reports.

She was staying with a group including some family members at Hotel Park in the town of St Johann in Tirol, a popular ski destination about 20km from the German border.

Police say she had been socialising with friends on Sunday evening and that the group became concerned when they couldn’t get in touch with her the next morning.

The group contacted the authorities, who found her in her hotel room.

It is thought that her death was related to a medical issue and is not being treated as suspicious by police.

She’s due to undergo a postmortem today.

“A 31-year-old woman, from Co Mayo, was found dead at 9.50am,” a police spokesperson said.

“She was on holiday with her family and a group of 20 other people.

“Her family contacted the police when they were unable to find her after they had a party in St Johann.

“This morning they called the police, who searched for her. She was discovered in her hotel room.

“We do not suspect this was the result of a third party death. We think that this death was the result of a medical problem.”
