Billy Connolly Has Harsh Words With Russell Brand, After Brand Asks a Woman to Flash Him...

Billy Connolly is such a dad (and we mean that in the nicest way possible). The comedian is all about defending the honour of women, and he has some angry words for Russell Brand recently...

Uh-oh, it seems that Russell Brand has finally gotten in trouble for his womanizing ways. No, no – Katy hasn’t started blasting the comedian (although after everything he’s said about her in recent weeks, she would be well within her right to).

The comedian has actually gotten a very strict telling-off from none other than legendary funny man Billy Connolly. Yes, seriously.

The Irish Sun reports that Billy gave out to Russell after he refused to start filming until a wardrobe girl flashed her boobs at him.

Apparently, Russell’s cheeky demand delayed shooting on the first day of filming for Eric Idle’s musical What About Dick for the grand total of two hours. And, unbelievably, it is reported that the wardrobe assistant actually gave in to Brand’s demands for the sake of sticking to the filming schedule.

Needless to say Billy Connolly wasn’t pleased about what had happened and made sure that Brand new how mad he was.

“It was just a bit of fun. Billy got annoyed when he found out and gave Russell a stern ticking off,” said a source, who was on set at the time of the incident.

“Russell tried to persuade a wardrobe assistant to show him her breasts but she was having none of it – at first. But when it started to look like they weren’t going to get any work done she gave in and flashed him,” the source added.

Russell Brand's demands didn't go down well with Billy Connolly...

Now, we know that Russell shouldn’t have been making those kinds of demands in the first place (sexual harassment, much?) but we still can’t believe that the assistant actually did it.

“Russell is a charming scoundrel and everybody let him get away with murder on set – except Billy. But after their heart-to-heart he settled down and gave a great performance and filmed the scenes like a consummate professional,” said the source.

Fair play to Billy Connolly refusing to let Russell away with pulling such a stunt – what do you think ladies?

Have your say

Yeah, Amy, I cannot believe a woman in an insecure industry, being told to do something by someone with more power after two hours of being repeatedly told to do it and getting no support from her boss would actually DO IT(!)
Let's blame the victim, she obviously wanted to do it otherwise she would have delayed the film by three hours, wouldn't she?

Good on Billy. Russell Brand will get his just desserts.

The commenters are right, and the tone of the article totally wrong. What Brand did was illegal as well as immoral, and anyone else would be charged and end up in court. Good for Billy Connolly. Why weren't the other people speaking up for the woman? Shame on them.

He isn't a 'charming scoundrel'. He's an old-fashioned sleaze ball.

"we still can't believe the assistant actually did it" - the point of harrassment is to make someone do something they don't want to do. Jesus Christ, this woman should take him to court. It's not just a "cheeky demand," he essentially forced her to do this.

Why is Billy Connolly such a 'dad'? Why is that 'meant in a nice way'? Surely he's a person who noticed inappropriate behaviour and voiced his dislike of it? Skewed article angle much? If the facts of this story are accurate surely a harder hitting piece is meritted?

It's not a 'cheeky demand' it's sexual harrassment and a terrible piece of reporting. No shock or disgust at all in the article. Articles like this almost appear to condone this behaviour which is why Russell thinks he can get away with it.

We should not be condoning behaviour like this with such a light hearted 'isn't he cheeky' type article.

Without meaning to offend Stephen Fry I am quite offended by this article. It is offensive of Russell Brand to insist someone do anything they don't want for his personal gratification. It is offensive of her colleagues and superiors not to tell him to fuck off for asking. It is offensive of you to suggest that Billy Connolly is being a dad about it and not just being a sane person responding to such horrendous behaviour. I am offended by the fact that you implied that the young lady in question was somehow remiss by finally giving in to the asshole and doing what he demanded to keep the show on the road.. And finally I hope you publish this.. offensive language included

Precisely - I couldn't have put it better myself

This has actually made me like Billy Connolly. The only way he was 'being a dad' in this is that he appears to be the only person around who was thinking of the woman as a human being rather than a sexual object.

Since when was it acceptable to refuse to do your job for two hours until you had successfully sexually harrassed another employee?

I'm a fan of Billy Connelly and I'm not surprised he took Brand to task.

Brand seemed to has lost his moral compass a long time ago but if I found it I know where I'd like to put it!!

TWO HOURS? You've been sitting there, trying to laugh this off as a joke for two hours, and *nobody* more senior has stepped in and said that this is unacceptable and made Brand go back to work, and he's not backed down - you're pretty sure that your options are a) show your boobs and get it over with b) stay in this awful situation for the next six hours until you've lost the whole day's shooting, and know that Brand will be asked back on set the following day but you won't or c) walk away from your job right now. You're not going to pick the first?
