Here’s the first look at River Island’s latest collection

Autumn winter 2016.

It might be a little hard to get your head around winter woolens and heavy coats considering we're in the middle of summer but the new season high-street collections have started to drop. At the moment, the sales are in full swing, (fair play to anyone who braved the shops over the weekend) and once it ends, you'll start to notice autumn winter pieces arriving into your go-to stores. River Island showed their AW offering to press last week, and there were a few surprises from RI. The new collection has a very fashion-forward feel including a stand-out tailored brocade fabric suit. Hint: it's more than likely going to become THE look that sells out immediately. There's also some stunning all-white looks, pinafores are back, only this time with edgy cut-out detail and wait for it, the puffa jackets of your 90s childhood are cool again. As always, accessories are massive with lace-up heels and costume jewellery guaranteed to make a splash for the coming season.

Although leopard print is always en vogue, it's huge for next season particularly noticeable with outerwear. Another key trend that you may have spotted on the high-street already is denim featuring retro slogans and pretty embroidery. So, to summarise, although there's a grown-up feel to this collection and some of the pieces are high fashion, there's also the room to have a little fun and put your own stamp on next season's trends.
