Under eye eyeshadow is trending on TikTok – here’s everything you need to know

Impactful AND simple you say? I’m intrigued.

Party season is well and truly upon us, and if ever there was a perfect time to experiment with bold makeup, then that time is now.

However, when it comes to eyeshadow, there is some natural hesitation, particularly if you’re a bit intimidated by shading, blending, pigments, etc.

Thankfully, one of the beauty trends sweeping TikTok right now is not only super doable, but it’s also quite striking.

The technique involves applying eyeshadow underneath your bottom line, because who says our lids should get all the goods?

For eyeshadow novices like me, one simple but impactful approach involves popping a bit of concealer under your eye, and then taking a pencil brush and adding a pop of colour. Pinks, reds, greens, blues – they all result in a dynamic look, as seen below.

Others on TikTok, are applying eyeshadow underneath their eyes to enhance whatever they’ve got going on on top. In some cases, they’re opting for a smokey look, and are blending it out on the bottom to bring some extra smoulder to their face. Others go for more glittery shades to match full glamour looks.

Elsewhere on TikTok, some creators go full out, creating dreamy, exaggerated under shadow looks.

One beauty blogger, @naezrah, has inspired legions of makeup lovers on TikTok with her rainbow bright undershadow looks. In her tutorial, she breaks down the look, which firstly involves using a white concealer underneath the eyes. Then, working from the inside she pops on a pastel pink, a lilac/lavendar shade, pastel blue, pastel green and lime green, yellow and pastel yellow and finally pastel orange and orange. She then blends out the edges using a light dusting of setting power.

The look is then completed with some rainbow eyeliner and red eyeshadow for the wing.

Absolutely iconic.
