The Governess has spoken…

The Chase star Anne Hegerty has denied rumours of presenter Bradley Walsh leaving the show.

Bookies’ odds on Walsh departing ITV’s popular daytime quiz show had shortened, sparking rumours that he was set to be replaced by Good Morning host Philip Schofield.

Walsh has been a constant on the show since it first aired in 2009, and remains an essential part of what makes it so entertaining, as plucky contestants battle it out with ‘Chasers’ for a cash prize.

One of the Chasers, Anne Hegerty, aka The Governess, quashed rumours that Walsh could be on his way out, calling it a ‘non-story’ in response to OK! magazine’s report on the rumours.

“What an absolute non-story,” she replied on Twitter.

“None of us is going anywhere. The Chase Extra is just a little show on the ITV website, not replacing anything.”

She added in a follow-up tweet: “I daresay betting websites do have odds on practically anything happening. But it doesn’t mean they’re GOING to happen.”

Hegerty also called out the Daily Mail’s celebrity news page for inaccuracy in another tweet, writing: “Firstly, Brad isn’t leaving. Secondly, I’m not leaving. Thirdly, I’m a woman and I DO present an ITV gameshow (Britain’s Brightest Celebrity Family). What else are you going to get wrong?”
