Dublin’s array of bars and speakeasy-esque spots has been steadily growing over the past few years, and thank god for that. Now, if you fancy a fancy drink, there’s a good few places worth booking in and checking out.
From signature mixes to experimental creations, a casual beverage on a standard evening out these bars do not make.
Here are 5 of the best bars you need to book yourself a table in this year.
1. The Blind Pig Speakeasy, Suffolk St
If you’re in the mood for a treat this weekend, make it the Bling Pig. Serving drinks from an extensive cocktail list – as well as a delectable a la carte menu – this underground bar is one of the hottest spots in the city for drinks both mixed and shaken.
Artistic, experimental, and incredible aesthetic (it looks like a 1920s speakeasy, c’mon), this bar is bound to be a surefire hit with Ireland’s cocktail aficionados.
The Blind Pig also run cocktail masterclasses, if that’s something you’re into, and keenly boast about serving Dublin’s “best Margarita” – and in fairness, it is pretty damn delicious.

2. Vintage Cocktail Club, Temple Bar
A staple of Dublin’s cocktail scene, it would an offence not to mention VCC on this list. For years now people have been ringing the bell on that nondescript door and settling down for a taste of whatever drink they fancy.
No, really. They really do have everything here.
VCC’s extensive cocktail menu takes drinkers on a cocktail history lesson through the ages – whether you’re in the mood for a traditional milk punch (get it) or a contemporary twist on the espresso martini, they’ve got it, and it’s good.

3. Roe & Co Distillery, Dublin 8
Don’t fancy hitting up city centre? No bother, because Roe & Co is just one of the many spots in Dublin’s Liberties serving up delicious drinks this year.
Located just a 15 minute walk from Dame Street, the distillery’s Cocktail Village and Power House bar are without doubt mixing some of the tastiest drinks in the city, all made with their own delicious spirits, bespoke ingredients, and enough variety that you won’t even realise you’ve been on the whiskey all night.
The staff here are also incredibly knowledgable of the cocktail menu, so if you’re not sure what you’re up for, ask them. Or just order one of everything, it’s all good.

4. Fade Street Social, Fade Street
Another classic here, and rightfully so – Dylan McGrath’s Fade Street Social is a must for tasty tapas, but they’ve also got a fairly swanky cocktail menu behind the bar too.
From classics like the humble Pornstar Martini to drinks a little more unique like the Lord Dudley, you won’t be stuck for choice at least.
Their heated Winter Garden will be serving through the autumn too – an ideal spot for a few bevs with a few mates and one of the most casual spots on this list.

5. BAR 1661, Dublin 7
If you’re mad for your Poitín, this is the spot for you. BAR 1661 has won awards for their craft and quintessentially Irish cocktails, and once you take a sip, it’s not difficult to see why.
These guys will mix you a cocktail, they’ll make you an Irish coffee, and they’ll even let you put in an order for at-home delivery for a selection of pre-mixed drinks, if that’s your suss.
Bookings are strongly recommended, as they probably are with every bar on this list at the minute, so if you fancy nabbing yourself a seat, you know what to do.
