Well then you’ll want to check out this amazing and indulgent cocktail recipe to kick off the festive season in style!

Loves Labours Lost is for festive spirits who enjoy the warm flavours of Christmas. The classic taste of gingerbread is the (Christmas!) star of this seasonal cocktail featuring Zacapa Rum and of course real gingerbread.

The name was inspired by Shakespeare’s quote, “An I had but one penny in the world, thou shouldst have it to buy gingerbread,” from…of course Love’s Labour’s Lost.

Ingredients
50ml Zacapa 23 Rum
25ml fresh lemon juice
40ml gingerbread Syrup*
20ml egg whites
*Gingerbread syrup
125g caster sugar
125g Demerara sugar
300g water
4tsp ground ginger
2tsp ground cinnamon
1/3tsp nutmeg
Pinch of salt
Pinch of black pepper

Method
To make the gingerbread syrup, add the sugar and water to a pot and heat until sugar dissolves.

Add the rest of the ingredients, bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Then strain and bottle the syrup.

Shake all the ingredients with ice and double strain into a goblet glass. Garnish with edible bronze dust.
