IKEA’s trademark blue bags just got a seriously colourful makeover

Yay for Pride.

Out with the old and in with the new.

For the month of June, IKEA is swapping its notable blue bags for rainbow stripes as it celebrates all things Pride.

The KVANTING or FRAKTA bag is a very durable shopping bag that can be picked up in all IKEA stores and used to carry those bits and pieces you didn’t plan on buying when you initally went into the shop for “a look around”.

Silly us.

IKEA stores in Ireland have now started selling the bag (since May 17) for less than €2 and the sale of the bags will go towards the contribution and participation of local Pride events and other LGBT+ initiatives.

Speaking about the release of the bags, Ikea said:

“At IKEA we embrace diversity. In support of this year’s IDAHOTB we will once again be flying the rainbow (LGBT+) flag from all our UK and Ireland stores and units on 17th May, to celebrate diversity and show our support for LGBT+ co-workers, customers and the whole community.”

Continuing they added:

“Equality is a human right and as a humanistic and values-driven company, we will ensure our LGBT+ co-workers have the right to be themselves, be treated fairly and be given equal opportunities, whatever their sexual orientation or gender identity.”

We stan, IKEA. We stan.
