Maxwell was arrested by the FBI on Thursday, according to reports.
Ghislaine Maxwell, the British associate of the disgraced billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, has been arrested by the FBI.
According to NBC News, Maxwell has been accused of being involved in Epstein’s alleged sexual crimes.
Epstein was arrested on 6 July, 2019 and charged with sex trafficking and conspiracy to traffic minors for sex.
Prosecutors allege that he brought as many as 40 girls under 18 to his mansion for the purposes of sex.
Epstein was awaiting trial on the charges when he died by suicide in prison on 10 August, 2019.
Maxwell has kept below the radar since Epstein’s death, and denies any wrongdoing.
A number of allegations are made against Maxwell in the recent Netflix documentary Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich.
