Garda forensic collision investigators will conduct an examination of the scene, which is currently preserved.
The driver of the car, a man in his forties, was uninjured in the incident.
Local diversions have been put in place in the area, as the N21 road at the Newcastle West side of Adare village has been closed.
Gardaí at Newcastle West Station are appealing for any witnesses to collision to come forward, in particular any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage.
