‘Cloud cream’ is the new type of moisturiser that’s selling out everywhere

Another beauty innovation to get acquainted with.

Cloud cream is a new type of moisturiser that’s selling out everywhere (there’s one particular brand that Sephora can’t keep in stock) because of its ultra-hydrating properties.

If you’re anything like the Her gals, you’ll be intrigued by the concept of cloud cream which was given its name because of how our skin holds water, similar to the way a cloud is filled with vapour.

Aaaaaaah.

Cloud creams are packed with hyaluronic acid, (which isn’t actually an acid but a type of sugar molecule FYI), an ingredient which smoothes, plumps and hydrates the skin.

As our skin ages, we lose our ability to retain moisture and hyaluronic acid which is where the luxurious, uber-moisturising cloud cream comes in.

It replaces the moisture lost and also gives an added boost of hydration which is why it’s no major surprise that Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream keeps selling out at Sephora.

In conversation with Byrdie, Julie Russak MD, a dermatologist based in New York, explained why this particular cream is so effective.

“This cloud cream’s main actives, hyaluronic acid and ceramides, are proven to be effective in strengthening the barrier of the skin and intensely hydrating the skin.”

Julie explains why adding a cloud cream to your routine is important, particularly as your skin ages.

“A concentrated hyaluronic acid cream is a great way to deliver this powerful molecule to the skin and lock in moisture”.

So, to sum it up, the moisture that your skin loses as you grow older can be replenished over time by getting your cloud cream action on.
