We all know you should be chugging eight glasses of water a day, but sometimes, you just don’t get enough pit stops from your water bottle.

So if your skin is feeling tired and dry, one doctor suggests eating your way to a flawless complexion.

Experimenting With Skin Products We’re all tempted to buy the latest skin creams and serums, especially when they promised to dock twenty years off our face. While looking for something that suits you is a good idea, overhauling your routine in search for the elixir of youth every few weeks isn’t. Dermatologists recommend to stick to your daily beauty routine, sometimes it can take up to six or eight weeks to see a difference. Also, whenever you can, give your skin a break from makeup.

Dermatologist Dr. Howard Murad told Women’s Health:

“Eating foods that are rich in structured water, especially raw fruits and vegetables, will not only help your body hold onto water longer, you’ll get the added boost of important antioxidants, fibre and other nutrients.”

So what should you be munching to hydrate your skin?

Cucumber: This salad favourite is full of silica - a wonder mineral that will promote hair growth and increase white blood cells which is also a bonus for allowing bones to absorb calcium!

While we all know cucumbers are good for us – the vegetable boasts 96% water composition. Other fruit and vegetables to snack on include avocados (made up of 82% of water) as well as broccoli and spinach (both packed with 92% water).

Avocado The creamy flesh of the avocado is a great source of fibre. They are also a great source of mono and poly-unsaturated fats, the “good kind” that can help lower cholesterol.

Not sure how to make the most of these water based greens?

Why not throw them into a breakfast smoothie for the ultimate morning boost?
